My late husband David was fascinated by nature and wildlife.  He was an animal behaviorist and another time I will write a story of his work training animals, dogs, tigers (yes tigers) and birds.

He worked in search and rescue for years with the dogs being able to spot and find bodies in the avalanches of Utah.  He loved the outdoors.

David noted that on two occasions while in the back country he was astounded to see 4 eagles together perching on trees and then take flight and travel in divergent paths.  This was a sign to him that he could go any direction in life.  What are the odds to see 4 eagles together in one lifetime on two occasions.  He always made a point to my daughters that the world is open to them and they could choose any path they wanted.

When he passed away his white silver hair and distinct nose would make me think his alter ego was an eagle.  He had struggled for years before his death trying to breath.  Not the strong man he was in his youth.  The struggle took him on September 20th, 2014 and he crossed the chasm and was freed from his suffering.  I had an eagle tie on him in his casket.  He was buried in in a plot right next to an eagle statue.  He was able to soar in my mind, the way he wanted.

It has been many years since David has passed.  I have moved far away and am in a new relationship.  I have been burdened with sadness despite the beautiful location and weather.  I miss my children, grandchildren and friends.  I have tried to adapt as life changes.

I was driven to work on November 8th, 2023.  Another sad day for me.  This day from no-where an eagle swooped from the sky and dove in front of the windshield.  My driver and myself both saw it.  I was shocked to see the eye of an eagle right in front of my car and the majestic wings.  The eagle was only going one direction and it was not the direction I was going.  What are the odds of an eagle swooping down on your windshield in the middle of a city on the way to work.  Sometimes there are things in life that swoop in and help one see a different way.
